Since losing more than 300 pounds via gastric sleeve surgery and a diet overhaul, all eyes have been on Mama June. The reality star has been open with fans about what's worked for her and what hasn't, and in a recent BUILD Series interview, she was happy to answer an audience question about what diet she's currently following.
Mama June, who recently gained about 25 pounds as a result of health and vision problems, is all about the keto diet. She said it's helped her to lose a few pounds despite not being able to work out as intensely right now. "It's not that bad," she says. "It's like cheese, eggs, protein, meat, and you honestly lose weight with that. That's what I've been going back to, and it actually really works."
Part of the reason keto works so well for Mama June — she's not a fan of bread or pasta. In fact, she "can't stand" the two, much to probably everyone else's dismay. The diet is heavy on fat content, followed by a fair amount of protein and a limited number of carbs.
"I'm not here to tell people how to diet because everybody's different," Mama June points out. "But I know what has worked for me."
The crucial part of any diet, Mama June says, is persistence. "I think that's what happens with a lot of diets nowadays, cause I've gave up."
