It's no secret world-famous chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay loveeees his meat. And though he casually captioned an Instagram post back in April that he was "going to give this #vegan thing a try" he has definitely not warmed up to cooking vegan.

Riverdale actress and known vegan Madelaine Petsch recently challenged Ramsay to a cook-off, and it's all on her terms. To kick off the new season of MasterChef, Petsch and Ramsay compete in a mystery-box challenge. The revealed theme? Strictly vegan ingredients.

Ramsay hilariously pokes around to see what he'll be working with. Some of which were dates, kelp noodles — which he compares to his "grandad's armpits" — and tofu — which he also comments look like his "grandma's loofa."

The chef sears up cauliflower steaks, which were apparently a little "bulk and hefty" while Petsch made a fresh pesto with kale, yeast, pine nuts, olive oil and garlic pesto over kelp noodles. Though it wasn't properly seasoned, the judge gave her props that she'd definitely eat the dish for lunch.

And as for the winner of the first ever vegan Masterchef cook-off? Well, it was definitely not Ramsay.

During the episode it was also revealed that Petsch knew Ramsay pretty well prior to the cook-off because she used to be a production assistant of MasterChef Junior. Aw! Of this experience she said: “Watching Gordon Ramsay cook on television has been a staple in my life for a long time, so I thought it would be fun to go up against the self proclaimed ‘King of Mean’ and see if I could keep up in the kitchen, but also not cry in the process.”

If you tune into the Riverdale star's YouTube channel, then you know she likes to talk about food any second she can. And now, with a win against the culinary king under her belt, she not only has full bragging rights in her videos, but, fans of both her and Ramsay may even be heading there to fish for more vegan recipes she's likes.
