Two weeks after Anthony Bourdain's death, French officials have confirmed the results of his autopsy. According to The New York Times, the chef did not have narcotics in his body when he died. Christian de Rocquigny, the local prosecutor in charge of the investigation, said in a text to The New York Times that there were small traces of a nonnarcotic medicine in a therapeutic dose. As such, the cause of death remains suicide by hanging.

CNN's Parts Unknown host Anthony Bourdain has passed away. CNN confirmed Bourdain's death this morning and said the cause of death was suicide.

"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," CNN said in a statement Friday. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Bourdain was filming an upcoming episode of Parts Unknown in France when French chef Eric Ripert found him unresponsive in his hotel room. Bourdain was known for his TV shows and books, including A Cook's Tour and No Reservations.

The CDC published a survey Thursday showing suicide rates in the United States have increased by 25 percent over the last two decades. His death comes just days after fashion designer Kate Spade committed suicide.
