Coca-Cola Clear is set to hit shelves in Japan this month, Kotaku reports. What is Coca-Cola Clear, you ask? Why, it's a clear version of Coke!

If you're now wondering how one makes Coke that is not Coke-colored, the answer is that you get rid of its classic caramel ingredient, which is what gives it its coloring. It reportedly took 50 versions to get to the one that was both clear and palatable. Per the site, the final product is a zero-calorie beverage with a splash of lemon flavoring.

There are currently no plans to bring Coca-Cola Clear to the United States despite the fact that the preliminary versions of the drink — which was Coke Japan's idea — were executed here.
