UPDATE: May 10, 2019 at 11:25 a.m.

The beer train returns! For the second summer in a row, the Napa Valley Wine Train is offering a beer takeover once a week for any and all beer enthusiasts. The seasonal Hop Train starts running June 3 and will continue every Monday through October 28.

Like last year, they're kicking the season off with three beers: a Loco IPA, 1849 Gold Rush Red Ale, and Little Loco Session IPA. Ticket prices are slightly higher this time around: They start at $80 per person, $60 for locals. Each one includes two beers and a two-hour train ride through Napa Valley. Book your ticket here!

Great news for beer lovers who've been dragged to Napa Valley: There's a new shtick in town — and it's got nothing to do with grapes. The geniuses behind the Napa Valley Wine Train just announced their newest venture, the Hop Train. Every Monday beginning June 18, the Napa Palisades Beer Company is turning the wine-focused ride into a total beerfest.

Despite the name, there's no hopping on and hopping off. Instead, for two hours, you'll be lulled into oblivious happiness as you chugga chugga choo choo your way through the valley. And the selection of local craft brews on the open-air Hop Train will make you question why Napa's beers have been playing second fiddle to the wines for so long.

On the menu: the 1849 Gold Rush Red, which tastes like caramel and smoke; the Little Loco Session IPA, which hits you with a note of pine on the finish; and the Loco IPA, which is citrus-forward and the booziest of the bunch. Your inevitable case of the drunchies is covered, too. Chefs will be whipping up bar bites for you to snack on.

Tickets start at $75 per person — an insane deal considering that price includes your booze and food. But locals have it even better: If you're from the area, you can snap up the special $50 rate.

And, if after all this, you're still scratching you head and thinking, but ... it's Napa — fear not. All four of Napa Valley Wine Trains' other classic rides are still being offered.
