• Dr. Harold Bornstein told CNN that then-candidate Donald Trump dictated a glowing 2015 physician's letter
  • The eccentric doctor also claimed Trump's former bodyguard conducted a "raid" on his office and took Trump's medical records
  • This wouldn't be the first time the veracity of Trump's health reports have been called into question

Remember that glowing physician's letter then-candidate Donald Trump released back in 2015 — the one that claimed Trump would be "the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency"?

The one the New York Times said "made a sweeping declaration in a tone oddly similar to how Mr. Trump talks about himself"?

Well, uh, Trump apparently wrote it.

In news that probably won't come as a shock to anyone who's read one of Trump's very favorable medical reports, Dr. Harold Bornstein — the physician who supposedly wrote that 2015 letter — told CNN in a Tuesday interview that Trump crafted the entire thing.

"He dictated that whole letter. I didn't write that letter," Bornstein told the outlet. "I just made it up as I went along."

The new about the physician's letter came after Bornstein claimed Trump's ex-bodyguard, Keith Schiller, conducted a "raid" on his office in February of 2017 and took the president's medical records.

According to the eccentric doctor, the letter is example of his...sense of humor.

"That's black humor, that letter. That's my sense of humor," he told CNN. "It's like the movie Fargo: It takes the truth and moves it in a different direction."

Bornstein said Trump explained what he wanted in the letter as the doctor and his wife were driving across Central Park: "[Trump] dictated the letter and I would tell him what he couldn't put in there," he said. "They came to pick up their letter at 4 o'clock or something."

What Did the Letter Say?

The White House did not respond to CNN's request for comment about Bornstein's allegations, but it's worth noting the language of the letter has long raised eyebrows for sounding very similar to Trump.

Here's the full text of the physician's letter Trump released in 2015:

"To Whom My Concern:
I have been the personal physician of Mr Donald J. Trump since 1980. His previous physician was my father, Dr Jacob Bornstein. Over the past 39 years, I am pleased to report that Mr Trump has had no significant medical problems. Mr Trump has had a recent complete medical examination that showed only positive results. Actually, his blood pressure, 110/65, and laboratory test results were astonishingly excellent.
Over the past twelve months, he has lost at least fifteen pounds, Mr Trump takes 81 mg of aspirin daily and a low dose of a statin. His PSA test score is 0.15 (very low). His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary.
Mr Trump has suffered no form of cancer, has never had a hip, knee or shoulder replacement or any other orthopaedic surgery. His only surgery was an appendectomy at age ten. His cardiovascular status is excellent. He has no history of ever using alcohol or tobacco products.
If elected, Mr Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency."

When questioned about the letter by CNN in September of 2016, Bornstein said, "I was just rushed for time. I had people to see."

But he added, "Did I really write that letter? Yeah."

Trump's Bizarre Medical Reports

This wouldn't be the only time one of Trump's gushing health assessments has raised eyebrows.

The president's January medical exam — which declared him to be 6'3", 239 pounds, and in "excellent health" — spawned a massive conspiracy theory known as the "Girther" movement. For some people, it seemed a little too convenient that Trump's reported height and weight put him at a BMI of 29.9 — just a hair under 30, which would have classified him as obese.

At the time, Men's Health drew up this presidential workout plan for Trump. Just in case he was interested.
