If you want to try Baskin-Robbins' brand-new flavors, don't head to a scoop shop. The ice cream brand's newest trio of flavors are only sold in grocery stores, joining Baskin favorites like Mint Chocolate Chip and Jamoca Almond Fudge in the freezer aisle.
While the location might throw you for a loop, the flavors probably look familiar, especially if you're a fan of Baskin's sister brand, Dunkin' Donuts. The coffee-inspired flavors are a nod to Dunkin' lattes, with three options to choose from, all of which start with a coffee ice cream base.
There's the classic, fit for a coffee purist: Dunkin' Donuts Coffee flavored ice cream. Like the others, it comes in a 14-ounce package (slightly less than a pint, FYI). The French Vanilla Coffee ice cream swirls DD Coffee and French Vanilla ice creams together, and for mocha fans, there's Coffee Chocolate Chip.
Chefs and food scientists from the ice cream and coffee shops, which are both part of Dunkin' Brands, worked together on the new flavors. The brands have gleaned inspiration from each other in the past, as with Baskin-Robbins' Boston Cream Pie flavor, released this month and inspired by both the famous pie and one of Dunkin's most popular donuts, the Boston Cream. In 2015, Baskin-Robbins shops sold a Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee ‘n Donut flavor for a limited time.
You can find the Dunkin'-meets-Baskin ice cream collab at most major retailers, including Food Lion, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Publix, and Ralphs. They'll be rolling out this spring and summer, so keep your eyes peeled and some room in your freezer.
