If there's one rule we live by, it's this: It's not a party without a cake. As an addendum to that rule, it's always a good time for cake. With these guidelines in mind, it's safe to say we're pretty stoked about Trader Joe's new dessert.
The budget-friendly grocery store announced the Party Cake on its blog today, and the price has us ready to celebrate. For $6.99, you can feed 8 to 10 people, which puts it at less than a dollar a slice — more than a Costco sheet cake, but still pretty darn cheap.
In typical TJ's style, the cake itself isn't overly flashy or fancy, but looks solidly delish. It's made with two layers of white vanilla cake, vanilla buttercream frosting, and rainbow sprinkles. The top is intentionally left blank so you can decorate it according to the occasion, add as many candles as you'd like, or leave it clean.
You can find the Party Cake in the Trader Joe's bakery section now. If you're looking for something a bit healthier to balance out your purchase, TJ's recently added Gluten-Free Crispbreads to their stores, and a Houston location is selling Cauliflower Gnocchi. The lower-carb pasta hasn't been featured on Trader Joe's website yet, so it's probably not available at every store, but it's worth a walk down the frozen aisle!
