Last year, Aldi made our summers complete when its own-brand rosé was rated one of the best in the world. And now that the sun is shining, there's more great news from the discount retailer.

After its sell-out success in 2017, the supermarket's £6.69 Côtes de Provence Rosé has returned to stores. Hailed for its hints of 'strawberry, white fruit and subtle spice,' the wine hit headlines when it beat rivals that were up to three times the price at The International Wine Challenge to scoop a prestigious silver medal last May.

The arrival of the 2017 vintage comes as figures from the Wine and Spirit Trade Association report that 97 million bottles of rosé were sold last year alone, with experts predicting sales of the popular pink drink to rise once again.

Aldi says it saw a 15% growth in sales in the wine category year-on-year. With this in mind, the chain will now be stocking eight other varieties alongside its best-selling bottle in anticipation this summer's rosé boom, making it the brand's biggest rosé range to date.

'The rosé wine trend shows no sign of slowing down, so we are delighted to be able to offer a range that has something to suit all tastes and budgets from a new vintage of our celebrated Côtes de Provence to our great-value Toro Loco Rosé,' Julie Ashfield, Aldi's Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying, commented.

The Fleur de Prairie bottle is said to pair perfectly with grilled fish or salads, and will also be sold inmini 18.75cl bottles for £1.99.

It sounds like a great excuse for a picnic...
