It's 2 p.m., and the post-lunch slump has officially hit. You're also craving something sweet, so the internal dilemma begins: coffee, or seltzer? Phocus, a new caffeinated seltzer, is here to make the choice easier.
It's kind of crazy that a caffeinated sparkling water hasn't already caught on, given how popular bubble water has become. There are other pseudo-mixes of the two — sparkling coffee, organic energy drinks, etc. — but this is the first time we've seen a seltzer plus caffeine duo in its purest form. And in a can, which is key.

Phocus comes in five flavors: original, grapefruit, cucumber, yuzu & lime, and blood orange. All contain zero calories and zero sugar, and are sweetened with botanical flavors. Each can has 75 milligrams of caffeine from tea, which is about 20 grams less than a cup of coffee but double what's in a single cup of green tea.
They've also got 70 milligrams of an amino acid called L-Theanine, which may help with concentration and calmness. We can't speak to the taste yet, but the idea sounds great, and the flavors don't stray too far from what we've seen in seltzer cans so far.
Launched at the end of 2017, Phocus drinks are available on Amazon in variety packs or single-flavor cases. If you live in Kentucky, Connecticut, Florida, or Indiana, they're also sold in select grocery stores, like Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Market, Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market, and Lucky's Market.
