Chipotle knows the way to our hearts, and it's not through subpar queso. After a few new-item flops, including chorizo and the infamous cheese sauce, the fast food chain is testing a drink that could get more of the 21+ crowd frequenting stores.
Frozen Paloma Margaritas are now on the menu at Chipotle's NEXT Kitchen in New York City, home to Chipotle's newest innovations. According to The Daily Meal, the frozen drinks are made with Sauza tequila, grapefruit juice, agave syrup, and citrus juice. They're sold in 14-ounce plastic cups for a pretty reasonable $6.20.
An editor from The Daily Meal who tried the Poloma attested to the booziness of the drink, saying she felt buzzed after half a glass. To us, that sounds like this is bascially a tequila slushie, and we're not mad about it. If it's added to more Chipotle menus, it will join standard margaritas and beer, currently available at select Chipotle locations.
The NEXT Kitchen is also experimenting with quinoa and nachos at the moment, so a healthier rice option could soon be coming. Here's hoping the Palomas graduate from the test kitchen before long — tacos and tequila are too good of a combo to dismiss.
