Starbucks has confirmed that the Crystal Ball Frappuccino is real, just in time for it to hit stores today. Like baristas hinted at, it's a creme-based Frapp with a peachy flavor, and it's swirled with turquoise 'sparkles' that give it that marbled look. It's topped with peach-flavored whipped cream, and your barista gets to play fortune teller, choosing one of three colors of candy gems to top it with. Here's what they mean:

  • Blue = you're destined for adventure
  • Green = good luck is headed your way
  • Purple = expect a dose of magic, wonder, and enchantment in your near future

A Starbucks rep put an asterisk by those fortunes, clarifying that the chain doesn't assume liability for any luck — or lack thereof — that comes your way, "but we really do hope you have a fantastic day." Only one thing's for certain, it seems: If you order it, a sugar high is in your very near future.

You can only score the drink until March 26 in stores in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. And if supplies run out before then, so has your luck.

One can only imagine how new Frappuccino flavors are designed. Do they come to Howard Schultz in a dream? Are they the slick work of weeks of focus groups and intensive research, all to determine what the world needs now is the taste of sweet, sweet unicorns? Is it like Delish pitch meetings, where people shout out mash-ups of random words until an exasperated editor says "Why the hell not?!" (How else do you think Pickle Cupcakes and Totsagna came into existence?)

Starbucks has yet to reveal that secret, but baristas across the country have leaked its next get-everyone-talking creation: the Crystal Ball Frappuccino. When asked about the Frapp, the brand said it didn't have any new drink news to share at this time, which doesn't exactly deny its existence. After all, according to Instagram posts from a handful of Starbucks stores nationwide, it's not coming out until Thursday, March 22.

The drink is white with a teal swirl, almost tie-dye like, and in photos, it's shown topped with whipped cream and one of three types of sugar-crystal sprinkles: magenta, green, or blue. It'll taste like peaches and cream, according to Business Insider, and it's unclear whether it will contain any espresso in it.

Part of the allure of this drink is the topping. A sign promoting it asks, "What do the mystical sparkles mean? It remains to be seen." We can only hope they're something like these Sorting Hat Cupcakes, where the color of the cream filling determines your fate. One barista-designed sign suggests that the colors will stand for adventure, luck, or magic.

Normally, we'd be cautious to say this drink's coming to the menu, but given that several stores have shared test photos online — including a picture of a printed sign, in Starbucks' font, revealing it as the new limited-time-only drink — it seems like this isn't a hoax or secret-menu drink. And, given the many Starbucks executives' comments about how last spring's Unicorn Frappuccino significantly boosted its Q2 sales, we don't need a Magic 8 Ball to see all signs point to yes, this is real.
