17 Desserts You Can Throw On The Grill

Just grill it!

Here at Delish, we live by a few mantras. A core one is, of course, "You can (and should) probably grill it." This applies to so many things, and not just dinner. In fact, we love throwing a dessert on the grill right after we get through a meal of burgers, hot dogs, and ribs. It just makes the most sense, right? We think so! Because who wants to turn off the oven (or go inside) for a sweet treat, TBH. So we dreamt up 17 different desserts that more than prove you can (and should!) grill your dessert this grilling season. We promise it will make your summer feel a whole lot sweeter.

First things first, there are so many fireside (and grill-side) desserts out there that go way beyond just s'mores. Pretty much everything you can think of only gets better with a little char (or melt). Fruit, even when underriped, gets super caramelized and juicy when it hits the grill for a few minutes (see: grilled peaches, grilled strawberries, grilled pineapple sundaes for proof). Better yet, add a sturdy hunk of cake to a grilled fruit skewer, to make these perfectly handheld and decadent strawberry shortcake skewers.

Need to serve a crowd? We got you covered. Think of your grill/fire as the ultimate appliance for making a big dessert everyone will love at the end of your BBQ or camping trip. Your trusty cast iron skillet is about to make the ultimate shareable dessert we're particularly fond of our campfire s'mores, campfire cobbler, campfire Oreo skillet.

This beyond-simple campfire dessert is like survival food, but make it Delish. Don't wait until the center turns golden—the rest will burn before it does! Plus, the top will continue to firm up as it cools. Serve it warm, scooped into bowls topped with your ice cream of choice.

Campfire Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Krispies Treats never go out of style, and this toasted version is one of our new favorite ways to eat them. In order to get your treats nice and charred, they'll need a minute or two over the open fire. Make sure they were tightly packed into the baking dish before cutting; this will help keep them secure on your skewer while you're roasting. Using a double-pronged skewer helps too!

Fruity crisps and crumbles (blueberry crumble, rhubarb crisp, peach crisp...) are some of our favorite summer desserts, but we don't always want to turn on our oven to make them. Luckily, you can make them on your grill instead! Top this berry version with vanilla ice cream and dive in.

Grilled Peaches

Nothing beats a ripe, sticky-sweet peach, and while you can just bite right in, cooking with peaches is killer. One of our favorite ways? Grilling them, then drizzling them with honey, olive oil, and sea salt. Add freshly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to take them OTT.
