Here at Delish, we've made our fair share of Jell-O shots. We've made them big and small, sweet and savory, with Fireball, and on fire. The one territory we haven't tackled is gory, until now. These shark attack Jell-O shots are about as gory as it gets, and we're totally obsessed.
The secret to these gloriously gory shots is the food coloring. (Shoutout to our shark-obsessed videographer Jon for this brilliant idea!) The trick is getting the "blood" to spread in a convincing way. Add it too soon, and it turns the whole shot purple. Add it too late, and the drop won't spread or sink at all. We found a sweet spot — between 20 and 30 minutes in the fridge — the perfect time to add food coloring to your shots.
These shots are perfect for any summer party, but with Shark week upon us, there is no better party shot. Be warned though, they might make your more squeamish guests a little uncomfortable. Remember — you can always leave out the food coloring for those who covered their eyes for most of Jaws. Just don't forget the shark!
