I think it's impossible for anyone to actually dislike cookies. I am convinced that some people just practice better self-restraint than Cookie Monster. But this popcorn makes portion control hard. It's sweet, a little salty, crunchy, and adorable, and it brings out the blue googly-eyed beast in all of us.
Not only will kids approve eating the vibrant snack, they'll want to help you make it too. Please welcome the helping little hands. The big bowl of blue popcorn you see in the video above was made entirely by a team of four eight year-olds. I was only there to reach the microwave (for popping the popcorn) and wipe up the blue aftermath.
The process begins with popping the popcorn. If you prefer to pop yours on the stovetop, more power to you. To spare yourself dishes, however, I highly recommend going with the microwaveable bag. Once the popcorn is ready, you need to melt some white chocolate chips (again, the microwave is your friend) and dye it blue. Pour the chocolate into the popcorn and stir with a spatula. Though once the chocolate has cooled, it's okay to use your hands to coat the popcorn more easily.
The cookies and the googly eyes come next. Dump the now blue popcorn onto a giant sheet tray (or a couple smaller ones) and top with mini chocolate chip cookies, mini Oreos and candy eyes. It'll look like a dozen little cookie monsters are staring back at you.The popcorn should chill in the fridge for about 20 minutes or so. You want the white chocolate to really set, but you don't want the popcorn to lose its crunch.
Be careful. One minute you have a giant bowl of cookie popcorn, the next it's all gone. Just look for the guilty blue hands.
