A pickleback is the easiest shot of whiskey you'll ever take. After a swig of pickle juice, there's just a faint taste of vinegar and no sting from the alcohol. You don't need to like pickles to enjoy one. The same does not go for pickle Jello shots.(Yes, you read that correctly.) You need to really like the sour cukes.
The shots are served in a pickle, so there's no avoiding it. Sure it's not the first time we've made edible pickle shot glasses. But it's the first time we've done pickle jello. The jello is simply a mixture of whiskey, pickle juice and gelatin. There's also some finely chopped fresh dill to class things up ... kind of.
The process is easy, the consumption is the challenge. Remember you're shooting this and not savoring each bite. Otherwise, you'll chicken out and abandon the cheers. Just like a jello shot in a little paper cup, you can squeeze the jiggly booze out of the pickle. If you'd prefer some crunch, and even more pickle, you can bite into it.
Did we go too far? Maybe. But we're not sorry. The world is full of pickle freaks, like us, that will be serving these green bad boys at their next party.
