Sushi snobs, beware! What you're about to discover might upset you deeply. Because this "sushi" may be one of the trashiest things we've ever made. There's no nori (seaweed), sushi-grade tuna or sticky rice. There is white bread, cheddar, mayo, smooshed tater tots, pickles, and mini hot dogs. NBD, right? Wrong! We know how absurd this combination sounds. But hear me out.
1) Pickles aren't too dissimilar to relish, and lots of people love relish on their franks. 2) Cheese is good on everything. 3) You'd certainly eat tater tots with hot dogs, so why not on top? 4) White bread: I'm discovering that everyone secretly loves it. Even our cute and classy resident vegetable expert admitted she's got a soft spot for Wonder Bread.
Making the low-brow rolls is easy, and even kind of fun. First, bake batch of frozen tater tots. Remove the crusts from each slice white bread (the squishier the better) then use a rolling pin to flatten. Spread it with mayonnaise and sprinkle with cheddar, then place the crispy tots on top and smoosh them! Top with mini hot dogs and sliced pickles and roll it up into a log before slicing.
The weird little bites probably don't deserve chopsticks. But they certainly should get some ranch for dipping. Or ketchup. Follow your deepest, darkest trashiest cravings, whatever they may be.
