I've never met anyone who doesn't like churros. The idea seems impossible. Thus, I like to "churro" (yes, it's now a verb at Delish) everything. Nothing is off limits — not nachos, not bananas, and certainly not French toast.

There's nothing wrong with traditional French toast. But when it's all hot and buttery out of the skillet, it's practically begging for cinnamon sugar. That's all what Churro French Toast is: white bread soaked in a mixture of eggs and milk, fried in butter, then tossed in cinnamon sugar.

Like most French toast recipes, stale or day-old is preferable, but not necessary. You could get fancy with brioche or challah, but such upgrades are also unnecessary. The churro treatment makes this breakfast plenty indulgent and sweet. The biggest piece of advice, process-wise, I can give you is to toss each piece of freshly fried toast in cinnamon sugar immediately. The warmer it is, the more it soaks up the spiced sugar. Once tossed, lay the slices on a metal cooling rack to keep them nice and crispy on the outside.

Before you start drizzling maple syrup, you should definitely consider making a quick cream cheese glaze instead. Or melted chocolate. Might as well go all out with the whole decadence thing.
