Cadbury Creme Eggs are an Easter staple — the company churns out up to 1.5 million a day during peak season — but if you think the only thing to do with them is tear off the foil wrapper and devour, you're underutilizing the creme-filled chocolate. Honestly, they need something to offset all that sweetness, be it batter-dipping them and deep-frying 'em (diet be damned!) or hollowing them out and filling them with espresso for a pick-me-up that doubles as dessert.
The latter got us thinking: Could you hollow out that chocolate egg and turn it into a shot? Why yes, yes you could — and it's unbelievably good. Lop off the top of the eggs, and use a butter knife to scoop out some of the creme filling, creating a well in the center. You don't have to get it all out; if anything, it makes the shot even richer if there's a little extra inside.
Of course, we're not letting that creme go to waste — it becomes the sweetener for an even mix of kahlua, vodka, and milk. Whisk it all together, and you've got what tastes like an ultra-boozy iced latte.
We'll be honest: It's not easy pouring shots into eggs, but the end result is well worth the occasional spill. Fill them up, and raise an egg to family togetherness — or, at the very least, something all of your far-flung relatives can agree on. For once.
