"Fondue" sounds fancy and French, but it can be super simple to whip together. Like make it, from beginning to end, in less than 20 minutes easy. At least, if we're talking about caramel fondue — our new favorite party trick.
For this recipe, you don't need a special fondue pot. And you also only need three ingredients. All that's required: a small saucepan (the smaller, the better), soft caramel candies, heavy cream and flaky sea salt. And dippers! Don't forget sweet and salty snacks for dunking. We highly recommend tart granny smith apples, crunchy graham crackers and salty pretzels.
The process for actually making the fondue is laughably simple. Combine the caramels (unwrapped puhlease) and heavy cream and cook over medium low heat until the caramels are melty. You'll need to stir often so that the candies don't burn on the bottom of the saucepan. Cook time varies depending on how soft your caramels are and how intense the burner is. So check often! Ours was ready to serve the party in about 15 minutes.
As far as the salt goes, flaky is best. Maldon is our go-to but fluer de sel is très délicieux.
