Brownies are appropriate for just about any situation—whether you're celebrating a birthday, trying to say sorry or just really really craving chocolate. Because everyone loves them (and feels infinitely better after eating one), a good basic brownie recipe is a must in a life.
If an ultra fudgy interior and a crackly crust is your type of thing (and how could it not be?), our recipe is the only one you'll ever need. Your days of googling "best brownie recipe" are over because the is the one.
It's based on the infamous Brooklyn bakery Baked recipe, which is one of Oprah's fave things. The original recipe calls for a ton of chocolate (to be melted over a double boiler with chocolate), as well as a lot of eggs—five of them. All those yolks add rich, decadent flavor.
To earn the title "Death by Chocolate," which is taken quite seriously at Delish, we upped the cocoa factor even more. There's more melted chocolate and cocoa powder in the batter AND chocolate chips folded into the batter. The latter adds a nice texture to room temperature brownies. But let's face it, there's no way they'll long last enough to cool right away.
It should go without saying that a scoop of ice cream on top and a drizzle of fudge sauce is entirely necessary.
