You've waited 9 long years for this moment—the chance to return to Stars Hollow, that magical place where everybody speaks like they're competing in the audible version of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, and you forget about your real-world problems because you're too entrenched in whether Lane's turned into her overbearing mother, or if Rory has backslid into the arms of Dean, Jess or Logan (or D, none of the above).
Now, you'll finally get the answers, and you'll be able to binge-watch your way to closure—hopefully—as soon as Netflix posts the four-episode revival of Gilmore Girls on Nov. 25. Popcorn's a little basic for an event of this caliber, so we created a treat to snack on while you watch. One that's right in line with Lorelai and Rory's vices: coffee-infused coffee cake with a Pop-Tart streusel on top.
If there's one drink the mother-daughter duo's known for, it's coffee, so naturally, we needed something that'd pair well with it, in case you're into method watching. (That's a thing, right?) Coffee cake on its own is great, but we wanted to punch things up a bit, adding espresso powder to the cake batter and the crumb topping, so every bite reminds you of a cake batter latte.
Then, the Pop-Tarts. Because Chinese food or a Luke's Diner burger crumbled on top would be overkill, not to mention disgusting, and diehard fans know those toaster pastries are a symbol of Lorelai's, ahem, complicated relationship with her mother.
Lorelai may not want to be in a relationship with pie, despite her attraction to it, but she might feel differently about this cake. It's that good, even when salted with your tears upon watching the end credits for that final new episode. Assuming there's any left, that is.
