Everybody deserves a friend like Truvy Jones. She'll give you a perm that'll make you three inches taller, she won't let you cry alone (she has a strict policy against it, in fact), and she's the kind of person who has no qualms sharing her most prized recipes with you.

While the armadillo groom's cake totally steals the movie—who can even watch it without quoting the infamous "nothing like a good piece of ass" scene?!—Truvy's Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa is the sort of prized recipe anybody can tackle. When the hairstylist-with-a-heart-of-gold (played by Dolly Parton, in all of her teased hair and frosted lipstick-ed glory) tells her friends exactly how it's made, it almost seems too good to be true. You can't really just pour sugar, flour and fruit cocktail in a bowl, mix it up and have it bake into a cake, can you?!

Like our Clueless Cookie Dough Log experiment, we had to put Truvy's dish to the test. It had serious potential—it's essentially a riff on a dump cake, after all—and it turns out, Truvy didn't lie. It really works, and it really is that easy to make.

Truvy also didn't lie about it needing ice cream. Even using no-sugar-added fruit cocktail, the cake is as saccharine as downing a fistful of Pixy Stix. Somehow, the dairy in the vanilla ice cream really does cut the sweetness. Together, it's an irresistible dessert you pretty much have to share with a friend. Or two. Even the biggest sugar fiend will be hard-pressed to eat it all—and maybe that portion control is a good thing. After all, remember Truvy's motto, there is no such thing as natural beauty. Maintaining that figure takes work.
