If you're talking to a cult fan of P.F. Chang's—trust me, they exist—one of their most beloved dishes will always be the Mongolian Beef. If you're not familiar with the dish, it's pieces of steak that are seared over high heat in a generous layer of oil so the texture gets perfectly crispy (a key characteristic) and then tossed in an insanely addictive sauce.
The sauce is what takes Mongolian Beef to the next level, and it's so easy to make from scratch. While you're cooking the steak you start it: sauté ginger and garlic until fragrant, then add soy sauce and water, and just enough brown sugar that'll make you think it's going to be way too sweet. (Teaser: It's not.) As the sauce simmers, it reduces into a thick, sticky glaze that tastes so friggin' delicious when tossed on steak.
Trust us, you'll be forgetting all about P.F. Chang's.
