These pancakes are definitive proof of that classic Annette Funicello quote that "life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful." Okay, that may be a minor overstatement, but in all honesty, making Nutella-stuffed pancakes is far easier (and way more forgiving) than you'd think.

Need proof? Just watch the video above. Our flip wasn't totally flawless—and, real talk: we burned the first one—but every bite still oozed with the chocolate-hazelnut spread.

We found it easiest to spoon out the Nutella directly onto the pancake batter, but for a more even pancake-to-chocolate ratio, freeze discs of of the Nutella first. It's a trick we picked up from some genius bloggers. Dollop tablespoons of the spread onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, stick them in the freezer for 30 minutes or so. When you're ready to start flipping your flapjacks, place a frozen disc right on top of pancake batter, cover with more batter to cover and prepare yourself for PERFECT pancakes.

The resulting gooey Nutella centers are so gosh-darn perfect beautiful. They're totally worth the extra wait to clear out room in your freezer and let the discs harden. But when it really comes down to it, sometimes when you're desperately craving Nutella, there's simply no planning: It's either a spoonful straight out of the jar—or, with a little self-restraint, dabbed onto pancakes as they cook.
