If you're all about the famous frozen hot chocolate but don't feel like making the trip all the way to New York City, we have the best solution right here. This frozen hot chocolate recipe is the easiest chocolatey dessert when you want something simple, fast and still impressive. Festive enough to be a winter dessert but refreshing enough to sip on during hot summer days, this is a year-round favorite.
Only three steps are required to make this famous treat right at home:
Make the hot chocolate.
While we are using store-bought hot chocolate mix for this recipe, we are adding extra melted chocolate chips to make this extra rich and chocolatey. You're going to melt your chocolate chips before adding your hot cocoa mix, sugar and milk. Milk chocolate or semi-sweet would work great in this recipe—whatever you'd prefer will be equally delicious.
Create the marshmallow cream.
The secret ingredient to really take this hot chocolate to the next level? Homemade. Marshmallow. Cream. After beating your heavy cream with vanilla extract, you're going to fold in your marshmallow fluff to create the fluffiest, soft-as-a cloud topping to your hot chocolate.
Blend it up!
Add your cooled hot chocolate mixture, the rest of your milk, ice—and blend it up! When it's smooth and frothy, it's ready to be topped with your hot fudge and marshmallow cream topping. But, you don't need to stop there: Feel free to add chocolate shavings, sprinkles...anything you'd like.

Ingredients
- 1 cup
chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp.
store-bought hot chocolate mix
- 2 Tbsp.
sugar
- 1 1/2 cups
milk, divided
- 3 cups
ice
- 1 cup
heavy cream
- 1 tsp.
vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup
marshmallow fluff
- 1/4 cup
hot fudge sauce
Directions
- Step 1Create a double boiler by setting a glass bowl over a pot of simmering water. Add the chocolate chips to the bowl and heat until melted, stirring occasionally. Stir in the cocoa mix and sugar until thoroughly blended. Turn off the heat and slowly pour in 1/2 cup of the milk, stirring until smooth. Set aside and cool to room temperature.
- Step 2Meanwhile, make the marshmallow cream. With a hand mixer, beat the heavy cream with the vanilla until soft peaks form. Fold in the marshmallow fluff.
- Step 3In a blender, add the remaining milk, the cooled chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on until smooth and frothy. Divide between tall glasses and top with whipped marshmallow cream and hot fudge sauce.
