At Delish, our favorite thing in the entire world is a good cheese pull, or, for people who don't spend their day fretting over such fromage issues, when you grab the first piece of pizza from a pie, or pull a grilled cheese sandwich apart, and a stretchy trail of gooey cheese follows. And nothing gives a better cheese pull than mozz sticks.
A favorite go-to bar food, mozzarella sticks are definitely not the healthiest app option. But we cracked the code with this skinny-fied version! They've got a skim mozzarella base, whole-wheat bread crumbs, and they're baked instead of deep fried. True, they might not have the nutritional value of a kale salad (a girl can dream!), but they're a delicious, diet-friendly alternative to the original.
The trick to achieving perfect sticks is freezing the mozzarella for at least 3 hours. They've gotta be frozen solid or else they'll melt into a pile of goo (not the worst thing) once they hit the oven. Get ready to experience cheese-pull glory!
