Ingredients
- 3 lb. chicken wings
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups Sunkist soda
- 1/2 cup hot sauce, such as Cholula or Frank's
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. orange zest
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
Directions
- Step 1Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Step 2In a large bowl, combine wings with orange juice, oil and chili powder and season with salt and pepper. Using tongs, toss to combine. Place onto a large baking sheet fitted with a cooling rack in a single layer. Roast 30-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden and crisp.
- Step 3In a small sauce pan, combine soda, hot sauce, sugar, butter, garlic, orange zest and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and bring to a boil, whisking until all ingredients are fully combined. Bring to a simmer and let reduce by half, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.
- Step 4In a large clean bowl toss wings in sauce. Garnish with chives and serve.
