Ingredients
- 1 cup
all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup
milk
- 1/4 cup
Fireball whisky
- 1
large egg
- 1/2 tsp.
baking powder
- 2 Tbsp.
granulated sugar
- 1 tsp.
ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp.
kosher salt
Vegetable oil, for frying
- 4
pink lady apples
- 2 cups
cinnamon-sugar
Caramel, for dipping
Directions
- Step 1In a large bowl, whisk together flour, milk, Fireball, egg, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
- Step 2Into a skillet over medium-high heat, pour about 1" vegetable oil.
- Step 3Slice apples crosswise into 1/4”-thick pieces, and use a teaspoon to hollow out centers.
- Step 4When the oil is hot, use tongs to dip each apple slice into the batter, then gently lower into the oil. Once the edges of the apple slices are lightly golden, use the tongs to gently flip and cook the other side, about 1 minute more.
- Step 5Remove apple rings from oil, one at a time, and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease, then toss in cinnamon-sugar.
- Step 6Serve warm with caramel.
