Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups
whole milk
- 6
large eggs
- 1/4 tsp.
ground nutmeg
pinch of kosher salt
- 8
slices white bread, preferably stale or day-old
- 2 Tbsp.
butter
- 6
slices bacon, cooked
- 8 oz.
Brie, thinly sliced
Maple syrup, for drizzling
Directions
- Step 1Make French toast: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, nutmeg and salt until light and frothy. Dip bread in egg mixture until each slice is soaked through.
- Step 2In a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add a couple slices of bread and cook until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer French toast to a cooling rack while you cook the remaining slices. Wipe skillet clean.
- Step 3Make grilled cheese: Lay two slices of bacon and a few slices of cheese onto a piece of French toast. Drizzle with maple syrup then top with another slice of French toast.
- Step 4Heat clean skillet over medium heat. Add French toast grilled cheese and cook until the cheese is melted, about 2 minutes per side.
