Here at Delish, we're no strangers to adding an extra-sweet touch to staple quick bread recipes. We've transformed our banana bread into a chocolate-packed blackout banana bread, zucchini bread into lemon-poppy zucchini bread, and have countless of creative takes on the fall staple—pumpkin bread. If one helping of chocolate in your chocolate chip pumpkin bread just isn't enough for you, let us introduce you to your new baking staple: triple-chocolate pumpkin bread.
This loaf is packed full of chocolate flavor with the inclusion of cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and a chocolate ganache to top it all off. We love the decadence it adds to the pumpkin bread, but if you're more of a double-chocolate kind of person, you can totally leave it off.

For the Pumpkin bread:
- 1/2 cup
butter, melted, plus more for buttering pan
- 1/2 cup
unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting pan
- 1 cup
all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp.
pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp.
baking soda
- 1/2 tsp.
baking powder
- 3/4 tsp.
kosher salt
- 3/4 cup
sugar
- 1/4 cup
sour cream
- 1 tsp.
pure vanilla extract
- 1
egg plus 1 egg yolk
- 1 cup
semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup
pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
For the ganache:
- 3/4 cup
semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup
heavy cream
Directions
- Step 1Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a 9"-x-5" loaf pan and dust with cocoa powder.
- Step 2In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3In another large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, sour cream, vanilla, egg and egg yolk until smooth. Pour wet ingredients over dry and stir until combined, then fold in chocolate chips and pumpkin puree.
- Step 4Transfer batter to prepared pan and bake until a toothpick comes out clean, 60 to 65 minutes. Let cool at least 10 minutes.
- Step 5Make ganache: Place chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan over low heat, heat heavy cream just until it bubbles. Pour heavy cream over chocolate chips and let stand 2 minutes. Whisk until completely smooth and no clumps remain.
- Step 6Pour ganache over pumpkin bread, smoothing top if desired, and serve.
