Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- kosher salt
- 2 tsp. Taco Seasoning
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 8 oz. Monterey Jack, shredded
- Chopped lettuce, for topping
- Chopped tomatoes, for topping
- sour cream, for topping
- Tortilla chips, for serving
Directions
- Step 1Preheat oven to 450°. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef for 3 minutes. Season with salt, then add taco seasoning and stir until combined. Add onions and cook until beef is no longer pink and onions are tender, 4 to 5 minutes more.
- Step 2Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain fat.
- Step 3In a small oven-safe skillet or baking dish, add a layer of cheese, then top with a layer of ground beef. Continue layering until cheese and ground beef are all used up.
- Step 4Bake until cheese is warm and bubbly, 5 to 7 minutes. (Be sure the top doesn’t burn!)
- Step 5Remove from oven and immediately top with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream, and serve with chips.
