A classic Rice Krispies Treat is one of our favorite things to bring to a bake sale, pack in a lunch box or munch on after dinner. So when October rolls around, and you might be looking for some spooky sweets, look no further than this recipe.

The only things you'll need to create these adorable, pumpkin-y treats is food coloring and a pumpkin cookie cutter. We topped ours with candy corn eyes and chocolate mouths but you can go nuts with how you want to decorate them. Definitely feel free to go for a classic jagged mouth, or take inspiration from your favorite emoji.

  • 6 Tbsp.

    butter, divided

  • 1

    drop green food coloring

  • 6 cups

    Mini Marshmallows, divided

  • 6 cups

    Rice Krispies

  • 1

    drop orange food coloring

  • Candy corn, for eyes

  • Melted chocolate, for mouths

Directions

    1. Step 1Lightly coat a baking sheet with non-stick spray. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in green food coloring and 2 cups mini marshmallows. Cook until marshmallows are melted, then turn off heat and add 2 cups Rice Krispies, stirring until combined.
    2. Step 2Meanwhile, in another saucepan over medium heat, melt remaining 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in orange food coloring and remaining 4 cups marshmallows. Cook until marshmallows are melted, then turn off heat and add 4 cups Rice Krispies, stirring until combined.
    3. Step 3Using slightly dampened hands, press mixtures into pan, alternating to create three thin horizontal stripes of green and larger horizontal stripes of orange.
    4. Step 4Use a 2.5" pumpkin cookie cutter to stamp out shapes, then make eyes with candy corn and mouths using melted chocolate in a piping bag.
