Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp.
olive oil
- 1
onion
- 2
stalk celery
- 3
clove garlic
- 2 tsp.
dried thyme
- 2 tsp.
dried oregano
- 1
stick cinnamon
kosher salt
Pepper
- 1 1/4 lb.
lean ground turkey
- 3 cups
low-sodium marinara sauce
- 12 oz.
whole-wheat linguine
- tsp.
ground nutmeg
chopped fresh basil
grated Parmesan
Directions
- Step 1Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, celery and garlic; cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes. Add the thyme, oregano, cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper; cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Step 2Add the turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add the marinara sauce and 1/2 cup water and simmer until the mixture is slightly thickened and the turkey tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Step 3Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
- Step 4Discard the cinnamon from turkey mixture, stir in the nutmeg and toss with the pasta. Serve with basil and Parmesan, if desired.
