The ultimate gooey companion to vanilla ice cream, this easy-to-make crisp is loaded with tart dried cherries and apple slices, as well as apple cider, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Ingredients
- 3 lb. large apples (preferably 3 each Granny Smith and Cortland or McIntosh apples) peeled
- 3/4 cup tart dried cherries
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup apple cider or juice
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 6 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter
Directions
- Step 1Heat oven to 350°F. Have ready a shallow 2-qt baking dish.
- Step 2In a large bowl, toss the apples, cherries, 2 Tbsp of the sugar and 1 Tbsp of the flour. Transfer the mixture to a shallow 2-qt baking dish. Pour the cider over the apple mixture.
- Step 3In same bowl combine cinnamon, butter and remaining brown sugar and flour. With pastry blender or fingers, mix until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Step 4Bake until the top is browned and apples are tender, 50 to 55 minutes. Let the cool for 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
