Is it just us or is does it always feel like solving the toughest riddle when you're trying to figure out what to make your kids for lunch? Add in that it's a packed school lunch (and for a kindergartener!), the task becomes downright daunting. This year, however, things are going to be different. Those lunch boxes? They'll practically be licked clean and your kindergartener is going to be perhaps too happy to go to school, especially when a few Sloppy Joe cups await them. No matter if your kid is still "allergic" to vegetables or a full-on culinary adventurer, these 23 kindergarten-friendly lunch ideas are so good you might find yourself snacking on them yourself.

The real trick to packing a kindergartener's lunch? Making sure it's super easy to eat — which means all kinds of handheld, low-mess options that are way less likely to end up back in the lunch box (or all over their clothes). Food in fun shapes or in cup form, especially these cheeseburger cups and pinwheel sandwiches, are not only cute but they're the perfect size for little hands. Got a more adventurous eater on your hands? Try our copycat Starbucks egg bites (they're not just for breakfast, especially in a toasted English muffin), our baked falafel sandwiches, beef taquitos, or chicken empanadas.

Chances are, you have lovely, fuzzy, happy memories of school pizza days. So we say, why not make pizza day happen more than once a week? We'll taken pizza flavors any which way we can, especially our packable pizzadillas, mac and cheese pizza bites, and pizza bagels. And if all else fails, no kid is ever sad about seeing some chicken nuggets in their lunch box, especially our version.

To keep this cheap, simple, and less messy, we turned to ground beef for the filling and included an option for baking the taquitos instead of frying them.

With this recipe, we’ve re-imagined what a pizza bagel is really all about. Many members of Team Delish like to order a tomato pie and a white pie whenever we have our own pizza nights, so we mimicked the two versions with a margarita-style and ricotta “white” pie your kids will love.
