preview for Dr Pepper Floats Are The Ultimate Nostalgic Summer Sweet Treat

For me, floats are the peak of drink nostalgia. They bring to mind hot summer days, old-school diners, and last-minute runs to the store to get a pint of vanilla ice cream. They're so easy to create using whatever soda you have on hand, and in my house, that's often Dr Pepper. While we love to occasionally get fancy with our floats (our Shirley Temple floats are a go-to), we're taking it back to the basics in this recipe. All you need is Dr Pepper, vanilla ice cream, maraschino cherry syrup, and cherries to create this sweet summertime drink.

The beauty of floats is how versatile they are. If you're not a Dr Pepper fan, swap it out for your favorite soda (orange soda is another personal favorite). Need some ice cream help? Never fear—we tried 13 vanilla ice creams to determine the very best.
