Classic tiramisu is a no-bake labor of love and the perfect ending to nearly any meal. We love the dessert’s rich, creamy flavors so much, we have created cookie cups, a tiramisu cake, truffles, and stuffed French toast in its honor. We’ve leaned into the creamy layers, forgoing the usual ladyfingers in flavor of Oreos. Also, we’ve skipped chocolate and coffee altogether, re-creating the dessert with limoncello and lemon curd.
What do you do when you’re craving tiramisu, but you don’t have the time or patience to chill it for hours? Enter tiramisu dip. It’s got all the right flavors—creamy mascarpone, rich espresso, and a generous dusting of cocoa powder—and it comes together in just 10 minutes. Here’s how we do it:
The cream:
Both mascarpone and heavy cream are star ingredients in tiramisu. Adding cream cheese serves two purposes: First, its bright, tangy flavor balances the mellow richness of the other two creamy components. Second, cream cheese has a thicker consistency and makes the dip instantly, well, dippable—no chilling required.
The espresso & chocolate:
The coffee and cocoa are usually added in different layers in tiramisu: The ladyfingers are dipped into the coffee, and the cocoa powder is dusted on top. To create a streamlined recipe with all of the tiramisu flavors in every bite, we did things a little differently. We dissolve the espresso and cocoa powders in heavy cream, then we whip both right into the dip. (Mixing both cocoa and espresso in a little liquid first helps it more easily mix into the rest of the dip.) A dusting of cocoa powder on top gives solid tiramisu vibes.
The finishing touches:
Ladyfingers—purchased or homemade—are a must in any tiramisu moment, but don’t stop there. You can dunk shortbread cookies, graham crackers, fresh strawberries, pound cake chunks, or squares of bittersweet chocolate in this dip.
