I’m always in need of a little “something sweet.” The craving strikes in the late afternoon and after dinner. Every. Single. Day. While I’d love to down a cookie or two to satisfy that craving, my budget for new pants doesn’t exactly allow for that. Instead, I’ve been reaching for this insanely easy 4-ingredient banana bark to satiate my sweet tooth. I guarantee you have at least 3 of these ingredients on hand at any given time, and if you have 15 minutes to assemble it, you’ll be well on your way to having something somewhat nutritious to grab whenever a sugar craving strikes.
The ingredients for this quick dessert are right there in the name! A layer of bananas gets covered in smooth, unsweetened peanut butter, then drizzled with melted chocolate and frozen until stiff enough to snap into single servings. The flaky sea salt is optional but a remarkably delicious upgrade if you have it on hand.
Like most easy recipes, this is totally customizable. Here are some tips on how to switch it up!
—Turtle: Add 2 Tbsp. caramel to the peanut butter and top with toasted pecans.
—Cookies & Cream: Use white chocolate instead of semisweet and top with chocolate cookie crumbs.
—Honey Nut: Add 2 Tbsp. honey to the peanut butter and top with chopped toasted walnuts and almonds.

bananas, sliced into coins
- 1/2 cup
smooth peanut butter
- 3/4 cup
semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- 2 tsp.
coconut oil
Flaky sea salt (optional)
Directions
- Step 1On a parchment-lined baking sheet, spread banana slices in a single layer.
- Step 2In a small heatproof bowl, microwave peanut butter in 10-second increments, stirring between each, until runny, 20 to 30 seconds total. Pour peanut butter over bananas, spreading with a spatula to cover. Transfer sheet to freezer and freeze until peanut butter sets, 6 to 8 minutes.
- Step 3In another small heatproof bowl, microwave chips and oil in 15-second increments, stirring between each, until melted and smooth, about 1 minute and 15 seconds total. Pour chocolate over peanut butter and spread with spatula to cover peanut butter. Continue to freeze until chocolate is set, about 5 minutes.
- Step 4Sprinkle salt over chocolate (if using). Continue to freeze until solid, at least 1 hour or up to overnight.
- Step 5Break into pieces to serve.
- Step 6Make Ahead: Bark can be made 2 months ahead. Wrap pieces in plastic wrap, store in an airtight container, and freeze.
