This St. Patrick’s Day, let’s all shamROCK and roll with a Shamrock Smash in hand. This minty green apple is the perfect St. Patrick's Day cocktail to cheers with this holiday: It's so easy to make, but uses some of our favorite bartender tricks to make it extra special.
Trick number one: Start by muddling mint and lime in the bottom of a cocktail shaker with simple syrup to release their flavor and juices into the drink. When to stop muddling? Once the mint is slightly bruised and the lime releases its juices, you are done smashing. You can use store-bought, but we highly recommend making your own simple syrup if you have the time.
Trick number two: Add an egg white (yes, an egg white) to the cocktail. You ever wonder how bartenders get that delicious foamy top and thicker texture in a drink? It’s usually because they shook it up with egg white.
Finally, trick number three: Pour in sour apple liqueur, vodka, and seltzer, top it all off with ice, and shake vigorously to create the foamy top and chill the cocktail. Strain the drink into a coupe glass or wine glass, top with a mint sprig, and get to toasting!
