Holiday Toffee

Looking for a festive homemade food gift this year? This sweet and salty holiday toffee truly takes the cake. Just a warning—it's so satisfying, your friends and family just might ask for it every single year. Quick to make and simple to prepare, this holiday dessert is the perfect end to your Christmas celebration, or can simply be a snack to munch on all season long! While we think the sweet and salty combo is perfected in this recipe (the secret? saltine crackers 😉), it's also completely customizable to whatever you're feeling. 

What is toffee?

Classic toffee is a candy made from caramelizing butter with sugar. It's heated, cooled and hardened before being broken into pieces. Usually paired with melted chocolate and some form of topping, our version gets a salty twist with the addition of saltines (trust us, it works), and a festive topping of holiday candy. 

Can I change anything?

Of course! This toffee is completely customizable. While we went with semisweet chocolate, feel free to experiment with dark or milk if that's more of your thing. We chose to top our toffee with red and green candy and sprinkles to make it extra-festive, but you can really add whatever your heart desires. Chopped almonds, pretzels, your favorite candy, or even plain would all be delicious. 

How do I store it?

Store your toffee in an airtight container at room temp. to munch on all week long.
