Peaches and cream have met their match in this delightful orange creamsicle mimosa! This mimosa hits on the creamsicle nostalgia in an uncommon way—half-and-half and condensed milk come together to embody the sentimental creamy sweetness of the childhood favorite, while freshly squeezed orange juice brightens up the brunch drink in the best way.
The components:
— Fresh orange juice. Splurge a little on the fresh OJ here because the zing contributes directly to how fresh and orange-y your mimosa will be!
— Half-and-half. Half-and-half is naturally a bit sweeter than heavy cream and also has a more similar viscosity, so it makes for a perfect cream base for the mimosas.
— Condensed milk. Part of achieving the creamsicle nostalgia is adding a little bit of a processed sweet flavor, and I was surprised to find out that condensed milk did the job so well.
— Orange liqueur. This is optional but very welcome to amp up the boozy orange vibes. Some go-to brands are Grand Marnier and Cointreau.
— Champagne. Top off the creamsicle mixture with as much or as little Champagne as you’d like, granted it all fits in the flute! Since the drink is sweet on its own, there is no need for a sugar rim, but if that is your jam, rim Champagne flutes with an orange slice and dip in sugar.
Make it dairy-free:
Replace 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and swap the half-and-half with the same amount in evaporated coconut milk. Evaporated coconut milk makes for a great substitute here instead of regular coconut milk since a lot of the water content is evaporated, so you get a creamier result.
