The best apples for stewed apples:
What type of apples you use is up to you, but avoid softer varieties like Macintosh, Cortland, Rome, and Golden Delicious. The softer and mealier your apples, the more suitable they are for applesauce and apple butter. Choose hardier, crunchier ones like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Jonagold, or Jazz for a nice transitional texture: soft and creamy on the outside with a slight bit of crisp on the inside.

How to make the best stewed apples:
To make this delicious treat, you're going to start y melting a few pats of butter with brown sugar to create a quick caramel sauce, then add your apples and spices until your apples are tender, around 15 to 20 minutes. The brandy here is optional, but adds a little layer of intrigue to our apple mixture. You can swap it out for vanilla extract or lemon juice if you prefer: The former will make it more reminiscent of baked apples with ice cream, the latter of fresh apple cider. If your pot begins to run dry before the apples are tender, add 1/4 cup water as needed to keep them glossy and shiny.

How to use stewed apples:
You can truly add these sweet, spiced apples to practically anything to turn it into something special. Top your morning yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, and waffles with it, serve alongside your pork chops or glazed ham, or pair with ice cream for a sweet treat. 

Storage.
Once made, store your stewed apples in an airtight container in the fridge for around 3-5 days.
