When fall comes around, we can’t get enough of any and all things apple. From classic apple pie to spiced stewed apples, there are countless ways to enjoy this fall fruit. One of the easiest fall desserts to wow your guests? This caramel apple tart. Thanks to frozen puff pastry, this 4-ingredient dessert is ready in under an hour, making it the easiest dessert to serve in a pinch. Ready to take the classic dessert up a notch? Read on for everything you need to know:
The best apples for an apple tart:
We’re partial to Granny Smith, Honeycrip, and Gala, but you can really use any baking apple that you prefer in this recipe! Use one variety, or a couple to really mix it up and keep things interesting. Need some help deciding? Consult our list on all of the different types of apples, and how to use them.
The caramel sauce.
You can use either a store-bought or homemade caramel sauce in this recipe—it’s completely up to you. We happen to be partial to our easy, homemade recipe, but if you’re in a pinch, store-bought will do fine. Tip: Can’t get enough of salted caramel? Whisk in 1/2 tsp of salt to your homemade caramel to turn it into a sweet-salty creation.
The design.
We went simple with our design here, choosing to just layer our apples on top of the puff pastry. But, if you want to take this tart over the top, create a stunning design just like we did in our apple tart recipe.
Storage.
If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
