The earliest Gimlets were made up of equal parts gin and something called a lime cordial, which is essentially simple syrup that has been infused with lime flavor using lime peels and juice. And though you can find a similar product called Rose's, we prefer the fresher and simpler approach of using a mixture of real lime juice and simple syrup to compliment the herbaciousness of the gin.
This cocktail couldn't be simpler with only 3 ingredients, shaken and served. We love garnishing with a lime wheel and a bit of lime zest to get some of the intense lime taste that comes from the oils that are released when a lime is zested.
