A glass of ice cold, sweet-and-sour lemonade is truly the pinnacle of refreshing summer drinks. But, when we’re looking to add a fruity twist (or are simply desperate to use up that huge watermelon we bought 😅), we turn to this watermelon lemonade recipe. All you need are three ingredients (plus vodka if you’re craving a boozy summer cocktail!) and a blender to create this sweet summer drink that just might be your new poolside obsession.
While we love this drink as is, there are plenty of ways to experiment with it based on what you have on hand and the crowd you’re serving. Read on for all of our top tips on how to make it your own:
Variations.
— Make it a limeade. No lemons? No problem! Swap them out for limes instead to create a watermelon limeade.
— Skip (or switch up) the alcohol. If you’re not feeling the booze (or are looking for a kid-friendly summer drink), simply leave out the vodka. Alternatively, feel free to switch up the plain vodka for your spirit of choice! A watermelon flavored vodka would work perfectly, as well as tequila if that's more your thing.
— Make it blended. Craving a frosty drink? Freeze your watermelon chunks for at least two hours before adding to the blender to create a blended drink. Tip: If you decide to go this route, you might need some extra liquid to help blend things up. Add some water (or juice!) to help ease up the consistency.
