A diner classic, the club sandwich isn’t shy when it comes to ingredients: 3 types of meat (ham, turkey, and bacon), lettuce, tomato, and cheddar, all layered between 3 slices of toasted bread. It may seem like a feat, but this mile-high sandwich is all too easy to make at home once you get your hands on all the ingredients. In 10 minutes, you’ll have a wow-worthy, towering lunch on your hands that I guarantee will make your week. Read on for everything you need to know to make this layered lunch staple:
First, toast the bread until golden. Be careful not to over-toast your slices, or your sandwich will be overly dry. Once toasted, spread a thin layer of butter on both sides of every slice to make them more moist and easier to layer. Then spread your mayo on one side of one slice of bread. Now, we can move onto stacking.
While the stacking may seem tedious, trust me—it’s what makes this sandwich absolutely packed with flavor. The order of stacking is important and traditional, so stick with it if you’re looking to make the classic club! On top of the mayo-spread bread, add your lettuce then tomato slices, and add a light seasoning of salt and pepper. Then, layer on your bacon slices.
Spread mayo on both sides of a second piece of bread, then place it on top of the bacon. Add your cheddar, then turkey, then ham. Spread mayo on one side of the last piece of bread, then place it on top of the sandwich, making sure that it’s mayo side down.
Cutting this sandwich into triangles is traditional for a reason: it makes it so much easier to enjoy. Secure the sandwich with four toothpicks (to ensure nothing spills out), then cut it into four triangles. Now, enjoy all those beautiful layers and eat!

I’ll never say no to chips or French fries, but I particularly love this sandwich with classic potato salad or macaroni salad. If you’re looking for something lighter, our crunch salad or Mediterranean pasta salad would also work great here. Whatever you choose, don't forget the pickle!
