For the better part of the last decade, finding the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie cookie has become my life mission. I'm not sure I'll ever truly be satisfied. These cookies are as close as I've come. They nearly melt in your mouth and everything instantly becomes peaceful around you. They are that good.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup
plus 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 cup
packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup
plus 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
- 1
large egg
- 2 tsp.
white distilled vinegar
- 2 tsp.
pure vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups
all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp.
baking soda
- 1/2 tsp.
kosher salt
- 3/4 cup
chocolate chips
Flaky sea salt, for garnish
Directions
- Step 1Preheat oven to 325° and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, stir melted butter and sugars until fully incorporated. Stir in egg, then stir in vinegar and vanilla.
- Step 2In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to butter mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Step 3Using a large cookie scoop, scoop dough (about 3 tablespoons) onto prepared baking sheet about 2” apart. Bake until cookies are slightly golden, 12 to 14 minutes.
- Step 4Garnish with flaky sea salt before serving.
If you want medium-sized cookies, use a medium cookie scoop (about 2 tablespoons) and bake for 9 minutes.
