Bean Dip

When it comes to party dips, the classic 7-layer dip is a frequent player. We can totally see why, but when we’re craving a hot and cheesy dip, we turn to this recipe. There’s plenty of bean dips out there, but refried beans take the center stage here. Topped with all of our favorite taco toppings, this is a must-have appetizer for game day, or as a side alongside your taco night. Keep reading on for everything you need to know:

What's in bean dip?
There's plenty of bean dips out there (our black bean dip and taco dip to name a few), but refried beans take the center stage in this recipe. Cream cheese and sour cream are added to refried beans to make this extra creamy, while two types of shredded cheese turn this dip into cheesy, bubbling goodness. We added thinly sliced green onions, jalapeño and taco seasoning to amp up the flavor, but you can really customize with your flavors and seasonings here! 

How to top bean dip:
Top this dip with all of your fave taco toppings, of course. We went with crumbled queso fresco, thinly sliced green onions, cherry tomatoes, red onions, and diced jalapeño for a kick of hit. That being said, feel free to customize this however you please! Skip the jalapeño if it's not your thing, drizzle on hot sauce or your favorite salsa, or top with diced black olives—there's no limit to what you can top this creamy dip with. 

Variations:

Can I make it ahead?
Absolutely! Simply prepare your dip, fill your pan, then cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge until ready to top with shredded cheese and bake. 

Storage.
If you have any leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
