Copycat recipes are kind of our speciality, and Olive Garden is no exception. We have plenty of favorite takes on the chain’s recipes, from our copycat fettuccine Alfredo to chicken gnocchi soup, but this one is a true winner. This pasta dinner tastes just like Olive Garden's 5-Cheese Ziti Al Forno...maybe even better! If you’re unfamiliar with the dish, then let us introduce this baked pasta dinner.
Parmesan, mozzarella, fontina, Pecorino, and ricotta make up the 5 cheeses that combine with marinara and Alfredo to create this rich and comforting dinner. After the sauces, cheeses, and pasta are combined in a baking dish, it’s tossed in the oven to turn golden and bubbly (in just 30 minutes!). If you’re looking to make weeknights extra special (or just can’t be bothered to leave the house), then this copycat won’t disappoint.
My top advice: Buy a jar of marinara but make your own Alfredo! It's so much better homemade, and surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients
Cooking spray
Kosher salt
- 1 lb.
ziti
- 4 Tbsp.
butter
- 2
cloves garlic, minced
- 4 Tbsp.
all-purpose flour
- 2 cups
half-and-half
- 1 cup
freshly grated Parmesan, divided
Freshly ground black pepper
- 3 cups
marinara sauce
- 2 cups
shredded mozzarella, divided
- 1/2 cup
shredded fontina
- 1/2 cup
freshly grated Pecorino
- 1/2 cup
ricotta
- 1/2 cup
panko bread crumbs
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat oven to 375° and grease a 9"-x-13" baking dish with cooking spray. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add 2 tablespoons salt, and cook pasta until al dente according to package directions. Drain.
- Step 2Make Alfredo: In a large, high-sided skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Whisk in flour and cook until mixture is bubbling and golden, 1 minute more. Slowly pour in half-and-half, whisking constantly. Bring mixture to a simmer and then stir in ½ cup Parmesan. Let simmer until sauce thickens, 2 to 3 minutes, then season with salt and pepper.
- Step 3Stir in marinara, 1 cup mozzarella, fontina, Pecorino, and ricotta. Add cooked pasta and toss until noodles are completely coated. Transfer pasta mixture to baking dish and top with remaining 1 cup mozzarella.
- Step 4In a small bowl, mix together remaining ½ cup Parmesan and panko bread crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over top of dish.
- Step 5Bake until golden and bubbly, about 30 minutes.
